Q & A
How will functional medicine help me?
Functional medicine seeks to restore your body's natural way to heal. When you provide your body the nutrients and food that it seeks, you will be amazed at the capability it has to heal. As a functional medicine provider, we spent a lot of time listening to and gathering your health history. We then use that information to identity the root cause of your health issues and provide a plan to reverse it. This plan can consist of many different aspects of your life, from nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, sleep, emotional stressors and environmental toxins. Functional medicine also focuses on prevention, it is always best to proactive vs reactive when it comes to your health.
Should I get blood work done before the appointment?
Blood work is not necessary before the first consultation. If you have recent blood work you can certainly send it in prior to the appointment or we can look over it together.
What are the most common conditions that you help and see?
We see a wide variety of conditions, it is always best to send us a message or call to discuss your personal condition to see.
What is the difference between functional medicine and traditional medicine?
Functional medicine practitioners focus on identifying the root cause of a patient's health problems. Traditional medicine focuses on treating the symptoms. The different is one seeks to fix the underlying issue (functional medicine), while the other masks the true problems without looking at the whole picture (traditional medicine). Functional Medicine uses a combination of supplements, herbs, nutrition, lifestyle changes and if necessary pharmaceuticals to give the body back what it is missing.
